Essay #3 Self-Review
Once again another essay to write and another review process
to fill out. I used the self-review sheet to check my essay before submitting
the 2nd rough draft. Once again I did not find anything earth
shattering by using the review sheet. I
did however re-read and make a few wording and syntax changes. Hopefully they
make my paper better.
I still think the reason I don’t find anything earth
shattering is because I do so much revising while I am writing that the draft
almost becomes the final result. As I write I am constantly reviewing and may change
sentences to make them better, immediately after writing them down. It is as if
I put myself in the reader’s perspective as I write and I make the changes
necessary to make it sound better as I go. It is not exactly a structured review
process, but seems to work okay for me.
I did however use the question on the review about transitions
and content-lexical ties to help me improve my paper. I added a few
transitioning statements to my paper to make it flow more smoothly from
paragraph to paragraph. Hopefully it all makes sense. I think I will get
someone else to proofread it before I submit next week’s final draft. Two heads
are better than on, right!
Jason these are a lot of my sentiments. However, I did find that when I do the self-review I kind of use it as a checklist. I do remember when I was going over it I did make myself a note to go back and make a checklist to make sure I had followed the 'guide-lines' you could say
ReplyDeleteJason, I feel the same way about my drafts. I edit them as I write, and every so often, I will reread what I was wrote to make changes. I did not change my drafts any at all for this assignment, and I only changed the draft a little bit to make it the final paper. I have reread that paper so many times, so if there are changes that still need to be made, I know I will not see them. I did my best, though!

ReplyDeleteLike you, while I was reviewing my paper with self-review "check-list", I didn't find anything majorly wrong with my paper. I tend to make corrections as I go. Since I do this, there is not too much editing I have to do at the end of my paper. I think it's a great idea to have someone else proofread your paper. Sometimes they can catch mistakes that you missed!
