Comparing Writing Processes
This week’s blog assignment
is extremely hard for me. “How is my writing process different from two of my
peers?” I barely have a writing practice
myself so I only have a few things to compare. Oh well, here goes!
I read a few other
blogs but Sierra Sides’ blog caught my attention. She admits to being an avid
procrastinator similar to me. Sara also says she rarely pre-writes and does
most of her editing while writing. Once again a very “Jason” style.
I guess with every
similarity there must be some differences, everyone’s different. Sierra said it
must be quiet for her to work and I am the exact opposite of that. Silence
would drive me batty!
One of the next blogs I
found interesting was that of Sara Landers. She actually commented on my blog
and told me we have something in common. We both need to have something close
by to drink while we write.
For having one quirky
similarity together with Sara we have many differences. She talked about
brainstorming, researching, composing drafts, and then finally writing. I wait
till the last minute and then write as the thoughts come out of my head!
Jason, the operative word is "yet." Just kidding! Your procrastination is interesting. Keep in mind that your unconscious mind works on problems all the time without your awareness, including determining how to write a paper whose prompt you read last week. Your writing process might actually benefit from procrastination, in the sense that your unconscious has time to work and you feel some helpful pressure. As long as you build in some time to review and revise, you should be fine!
ReplyDeleteJason, I have found in my past years that the more one procratinates the more one is going to get stressed out and worry about the event in hand. It seems trying to get everything done at last minute would be rushed and jumbled but it may work for you. I am speaking for myeslf. Nice icons
