This is Me
Hi! My name is Jason
Ledure. My hometown is Cape Girardeau, MO. I have lived here all of my life
except for a brief two year period in the late 70’s. I am married and have
three kids. I also am employed full time at a local business. My major is
Business Administration. I am going back to school to get my BSBA after a
little over twenty years out of school. My company has mentioned to me that
future opportunities may open up once completed. I couldn’t turn them down. It
will be a challenge, but it will make me a better person.
My goals for this class are simple, help further my English
skills. Not only do I need it as a requirement for my major, I also do a lot of
writing for my job. I want to make sure that I am doing a professional job when
writing for my business. I know that there are some things I can brush up on
and maybe some things I don’t even know. I did not like English in High School
so I flat-out paid no attention during class. That is coming back to haunt me
now! I will have to give this class a lot of effort if I want to do well. Of
that I am sure.

Jason, I am interested in your workplace writing. What type of writing do you do? How often? For what audiences and purposes?
ReplyDeleteMainly technical reports and site visit reports, after visiting a customer or going out on a warranty claim. I handle all quality and warranty work for my company. Anything we test in the field or the lab gets a report generated. Some of them pretty intricate and several pages long. My audience varies wildly from engineers and quality managers to sales associates. It is very hard to write technical reports in such a way that even a layman can understand. Hope this class helps me with that!
DeleteJason,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to take the opportunity to post to your blog. I am majoring in Business just as you, and it is intriguing to see the river in the back ground. Is this the Mississippi Queen, Delta Queen or The Spirit of Peoria? I work for the Inland Marine Industry. In my travels I have been from New Orleans to the confluence of the Mississippi and the Illinois River, up the Illinois River to just about 35 miles west of Chicago in Lemont, Illinois and then from the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers all the way up to Pittsburgh PA. Was kind of surprised to see a river boat picture. Thanks for sharing a brief back ground of yourself. Also, good luck with your studies as well as your career.
It is the Mississippi Queen passing under the bridges at Cape Girardeau. This was just before the new bridge you can see in the background was done. The older bridge came down and was removed shortly after. The paddle wheelers had to lower their smokestacks to get under the old bridge. The river has always been a part of my life and I love to fish on it. I thought it was a good picture to go with a "who I am" blog.
